Does anyone have experience or suggestions regarding transporting a bicycle from Santiago to Pamplona? I believe the train can be a bit hit and miss and I have read horror stories of bikes being severely damaged when sent with correos. Any advice welcomed (other than riding it!)😄

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I've used Renfe a couple of times to take a bike on the Frances and the VDLP. You have to use the Regional or Media Distancia IF the bike is "unfolded". If you can dismantle the bike and put it in a bag then these are the rules for high-speed lines

The bike hire companies who send unfolded bikes all over the Iberian peninsula use DPD. Again used this method twice and bike/accessories appeared without a hitch.

So decision would be accompanied or unaccompanied. And if you are worried about damage, take out insurance or use a quality case.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Have used Correos twice and will continue to use them. Pack the bike yourself, the office in Santiago have the tools, packing material, experience etc. They're not airport baggage handlers 🙂. Or use one of the big freight handling companies, plenty around now everyone is shopping online.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

How long does it take for a few bikes to travel from Fisterra to Pamplona by Correos?

Very important! If your local Correos Office is small, visit it a few days early to ensure we have the packaging available on the day you leave your bike with us.

In 3 days you can collect it anywhere in Spain

From the Correos guide..... but the key bit there is the availability of the cardboard bike boxes they want you to use to pack the cycles.

Try this search for the location and contact details. You are looking for oficinas and may want to check they will have the required number. Or check with a local bike shop.
