AA meetings along "the way"...

Hello there fellow Pilgrims.

I'm going on Camino from August 26th to October 7th, St Jean-Finisterre! I'm just wondering if anyone has any information/experience of finding AA meetings on Camino? It would be great to get one in SJPP on the Sunday evening before I start my pilgrimage on the Monday morning but if that's not possible, would anyone know of one shortly after the start? I have checked out the Spanish AA website and see the times of meetings but the addresses don't appear to be recognised when I Google them. Any tips?

As members of the fellowship will understand, my programme is a huge part of my personal and spiritual journey on the Camino and I'm looking forward to getting to as many different meetings along the way as I can.

Looking forward to hearing some suggestions.

Buen Camino

Re: AA meetings along

Oh ya, I found some along the way! I went to the meeting in Burgos, it was great, in fact I left my A.A. hat as a gift it is on the wall. Great people, made me feel right at home. Also went to the Santiago meeting, It was fun also. Both meetings there was someone to translate for me.

What I also did was download a lot of A.A. talks on my I phone and listened to one every night before I went to bed. This will be beyond a spiritual experience, enjoy the moment. If you want more info you can f. b. me jim kaszynski By the way I did walk 500 miles to an A.A. meeting, we might start a group of the many miles gang?

I have found a couple of names and numbers/emails of the AA English speaking members in Madrid and maybe they can give you some further assistance. They are Laura (lttiscione@gmail.com at +34 91 632 6528 and +34 618 144 633) and Monica (+34 696 113 621). I will probably try to get in touch with them before your trip and you can always contact them.

Re: AA meetings along

Sarah,

Welcome to the Forum!

You will find much information here to help plan your September camino. Past pilgrims who are Forum members are always eager to share their experiences and advice.

September should be a wonderful time to walk the Camino since the crowds of summer will have past and the weather cooled a bit as well.

For further info regarding AA meetings along the way check out these earlier Forum topics el-camino-frances/topic17071.html
and

Thank you all so much!!! This is great! I was beginning to fret a little as I'd read other threads on this topic before and nobody seemed to know anything about meetings! But I trusted that the information will come to me as and when I need it.

I don't speak Spanish but I've heard that sitting in a foreign speaking meeting is a very spiritual experience since the language of the heart is understood by those who are willing to listen.

Saying that tho, it's nice to know that some meetings have translators Jim! :)Thanks for the addresses, they make much more sense to me now written the way you've put them. I might get in touch with those two contacts you mentioned too. I feel a lot more comfortable now. Perhaps we will start a many miles gang!

I hope to celebrate my 2nd AA birthday by reaching either Santiago or Finisterre by September 26th. This will be a pilgrimage of thanks and hope. I'm really looking forward to it!

Thanks again fellow Pilgrims.

Saw an ad in a local (English language) spanish newspaper today for AA with helpline number +34 600 379 110, http://www.aa-Europe.net. The number may be specific to to Andalucia, but I imagine they would have info for the whole of Spain.

Hey guys. I know that there are meetings in Santiago on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It's very close to the Cathedral. It is opposite the Police Station. Does anyone know if there are meetings in Sarria?
