    Memorable Climbs

In addition to many mentioned previously, the Mozarabe has a few good climbs on the way to Granada, often with views to the snow capped Sierra Nevada so making the 1,800 metre (?) seem enjoyable in comparison to the 2,700 m peaks nearby.

Is this a thing I can do?

I would be cautious about buying specific models and sizes of shoes along any Camino without wasting endless time looking for them. Whilst Decathlon can be quite useful it only has limited range of shoes, and specialist shoe shops are also limited in their range. (I have some experience in this...

    The Pilgrim’s Guide to Etiquette

I have glanced most of this thread trying to avoid all the distracting-to-me off-topic banter (which may in some tenuous way actually be on-topic) and think that from the beginning of my Camino-walking phase of my life in 2005, I have mostly followed the etiquette discussed here without knowing...

How to get the soap residue out of socks

Notwithstanding your emoji and status as a moderator, and as I have no say on what is allowed, I find there is too much "no knowledge" on the forum. :-( There are threads where people want information, and there are other threads where "no knowledge" is obviously part of the banter, or...

LIVE from the Camino Luka on the Sanabrés

Yes and no. A real benefit of being in another culture (ie. Spanish) is to discover, experience, perhaps be uncomfortable, and learn something, and not have your familiar comfortable home culture transposed into Spain and distort it.

    Medication woes

Those of us from Australia don't have this frame of reference, although we hear stories about it. ;) Most Australians, nor Europeans and others, don't go bankrupt from our cost of medicines,

Start where we are or walk the extra distance to the edge of Irún?

But following this whole thread there is no whole thing to walk, there is just your choice.

    Pork in Spain

It great when fantastic steak is also the most nutritious with its healthy marbling. However it is sad that "probably" a juicy fatty pork chop in Spain may no longer be as healthy as they would have been decades ago before the industrial feed now given to pigs in all those sheds we see. Pigs...

    Pork in Spain

In places that ate (or still do??) rabbits as the primary source of meat, for example during the depression, rabbit starvation (humans starving, not the rabbits) was a thing. Rabbits are too lean, and any very lean meat is definitely not a good idea. Digestion of protein requires associated fat...

    Backpack size

I think this clarifies the issue perfectly. PS: my 48 L pack is quite light and only a small amount heavier than the 40L version. I can carry everything I need and the 48 is much more usable than the 40L would have been, for the way I like to enjoy my Caminos. @frank john I have a memory...

Any risk of walking without insoles?

We are all different, but here is my take: I've done a lot of walking and would never risk my feet. If my shoe-insole-sock combination weren't in reasonably good order, I would take a bus or taxi to somewhere to fix the problem. After all I want to be able to walk for many years to come. After...

    Post-camino fitness

I find this an interesting observation, highlighting the diversity of people walking the Caminos. It is apparent that there are others (including myself) who are happy to walk for long periods of time alone. Each to their own.

standard of living/quality of life in Spain

... is probably a useful place to start, and then think about about why? There is the distribution of gross measures (eg GNP) between people - ie equality. The Gini coefficient is a common measure. Then there are other measures such as the Big Mac index and the Starbucks index. And then my...

    Post-camino fitness

I am not qualified in any way to provide a diagnosis or treatment ;) but my reaction to is that you overdid it not withstanding any thoughts you have of your level of fitness. Your body needs time to heal ie "a time for therapy". This is the message your body is telling you quite loudly:-...

    Travel agency suggestions?

... and most likely have a more rewarding experience, even allowing for the possible glitches that might occur.
