Taking the train is a great way to go. You might also look at the cost in time and money to take a flight into Biarritz. From there you can either catch the train or use the transport service Express Bourricot to get to St.-Jean-Pied-de-Port.
Which is too bad, because I find the Camino information on those types of platforms to be disjointed. IMHO this forum is the best source of Camino information, but I might be biased. 😉
