Personally, having a shower in the morning when walking long distances is a no go. I want completely dry feet in the morning, otherwise, I get blisters.

Yup! I used to think my rain coat was "all that", but now I swear by my Altus poncho. It is like wearing a jacket with sleeves that covers both you and your pack. I got mine in person in Pamplona last year at Caminoteca although Ivar has them on...
