Is the Botafumeiro Swinging Again?

Time of past OR future Camino

Someone in another forum said the Botafumeiro swung at Easter Mass yesterday.
I had heard it was being repaired with no idea when it would be fixed.
Is it back up and functioning again?

I requested the botafumeiro for the pilgrim mass I will be attending on April 15th. (You can pay a fee and have it there. My walk is in honor of my parents, so I was willing to pay it.) I originally wrote to them to make arrangements back in January. They were very responsive, but stated it wasn’t operational. They wrote to me again last week to update me, and told me it unfortunately would still not be ready by my April 15th arrival. They did not give a date for its return.

Any updates on this? has anyone heard about a date for operational shape, or is this over? I so much hate to see this not working I saw it last year when I did the French way, but so many new pilgrims wont have to see and experience this, I really cant see the Church prioritizing this.

Last week I saw a Facebook post from a volunteer in the cathedral sacristy which suggested that it might be back in use by June. Nothing definite though.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Thanks I'm doing the Camino Portuguese in June and I'll keep my fingers crossed it will be swinging by late June.

Just left Santiago a couple of days ago. There isn’t any part of it up at the moment. When I asked a few weeks ago, right before we left for our Camino, they said they had no prospective date for its return. No one was working on it at all while we were there. It really is sad. I was definitely disappointed. I’m sure it’s spectacular.

No.

Tonight was as @Cheryl2445 reported:

I was actually (very) surprised to find that I prefer its total absence. Mass was lovely and solemn, without the sideshow aspect of a 2-metre high flying missile.
That makes me feel better. Mass was definitely very very special and moving, but I was worried I was missing out lol. Never thought about it that way lol.
