In March I saw one pilgrim walking entirely in zori. Crocs get a favorable mention at the end of the article.

I didn't think ANYBODY called them Zori's any more.
Family and friends think i'm from Mars when I use that word for flip-flops.

Japan invented them (sort of), so they get to name them! An "s" does not make a plural in Japanese, so zori is one or both.
 
Johnnie... I'm only 54!

We did live in Okinawa when I was real young. Thats probably where we picked up using the word.
