This has been a topic on the French Route so thought we might open it up here. What made it a favorite?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

This topic came up a number of times with fellow pilgrims. The consensus was the new Albergue in Tamal. Everyone plumped for this one. Luckily I ignored Brierly's guidebook or would have skipped it.
Reasons- Very friendly people - they couldn't do enough
Small dorms - very spacious
Hospitalario cooked soup with vegggys from the Albergue's own garden. She made it clear that it was for everyone and that we could leave a donation ' if we wanted to-' lovely touch
All public areas were very modern and included free internet - i didn't use it but it was popular
Modern bathrooms - okay, it's new
Vending machines- beer for night, coffee for morning

The ambience was just perfect and helped all the weary pilgrims gel

I think all the Albergues do a great job but it is worth giving a thunbs up to the ones which go the extra mile

There is another thread for this, but I will have to put it as Lugar do Corgo, it is a bit special.

Also if you are looking to have a quieter and comfortable place to stay then try Briallos 5km before Caldas de Rei, one guide says there are no shops in the local vicinity, but there are details on a notice in the albergue of one no more than 200 meters away, it is open 9am to 9pm monday to saturdays and sundays and holidays 10am to 1pm.
