elpais.com reports that five new shelters and countless makeshift camps to shelter the pilgrims will be established during 2010. The president of the Xunta, Alberto Núñez Feijoo, announced yesterday after the weekly meeting of his Government that the Department of Culture duplicate the lodging places for the Holy Year, with an investment of 12.1 million which will also help "improve the environment "of the different variants of the pilgrimage route.
Five new lodgings will open during the Holy Year
The English Way Xunta intended to inaugurate a new establishment with 50 places in Betanzos. Premises of the former convent school in Trinity Street will offer 304 beds in Ribadeo on the road north, although it is unclear who is ready for the coming year.
In the Primitive Way debuting on new hostel of Seixas, in Palas de Rei, with 36 places and are running three new lodges in A Fonsagrada, Castroverde and Samos.
The problems of accommodation in Via da Prata between A and Laza Gudiña the Galician government seeks to solve the convention to take advantage of pulling the facilities of the Provincial de Ourense.
The rest of new jobs to the 3,000-Feijoo-be announced by the result of collaboration between the Jacobean and municipalities "to install temporary shelters with the most appropriate solution (tents, pavilions, halls) to respond during the busiest time pilgrims and complete the 2984 places on offer today.

Also in this action will involve the municipalities that charge a fee for the number of miles of the Camino de Santiago covering each municipality. The improvement works will include the planting of trees and natural grass, soil compaction along the different paths of the Camino
