I have just finished watching the Laurence Boulting DVD – “Within the Way Without” (Tres en el Camino).
If you can only afford to buy one DVD of the camino then this is the one. For those who don’t know about it, it involves three very different pilgrims who walk in winter, summer and spring and whose stories are intertwined throughout the film. The introduction is by Sir Richard Attenborough and each DVD is signed by Larry Boulting and is numbered. (Mine is number 44).
We show this film at all our CSJ workshops and if you would like to see what the path between St Jean and Roncesvalles looks like; or the albergue in Roncesvalles; or the washing of the feet at the albergue San Nicolas, or the meseta; or Jesus Jato performing a queimada or Tomas the Templar performing a ‘Templarios’ ceremony, then you really must buy this DVD.
I enjoy it more each time I watch it and this time it had me reduced to tears. I can really identify with the summer pilgrim who writes postcards to herself because she feels she might never be the same person again!
Available from the CSJ bookshop – http://www.csj.org.uk
PS: The title is from a Haiku poem written by the spring pilgrim.
