Wide fitting walking shoes

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Paul,

Keene has wide-sized trail shoes, boots, and even trail sandals - I have all three! I've been wearing Keene footwear for several years now and find them extremely comfortable (I am wide-footed myself).

Footwear is, of course, extremely personal. If you have an REI / MEC-type store available to you, try to pick up a pair there so that you can give the footwear a really good test and still be able to return them if they aren't perfect for you.

Note, I suggest you pick up a pair that are a half-size or so bigger than you would normally wear to allow for swelling that typically happens during long hikes / walks.

Hi, Paul,
Which part of your foot is wide? I have a narrow foot when it comes to the part between my heel and the end of my arch, but the bone across my foot where the toes connect is very wide. That causes me difficulty finding shoes because I need it wide in the toe box and narrow in other parts. I have found that the Keenes are wide generally, but not in the toe box! But I do know a lot of people who love them.

This year, I met a peregrino walking in a new shoe brand called Treksta (I think it's a hip bunch of young owners trying to offer a play on "gangsta", but since I'm not too hip, I'm not sure I caught the right meaning). Anyway, you should check out their website because they explain why their shoes are more likely to fit feet in the US than others. Actually, it was caminoist on this forum who was wearing them and raving about them, so maybe he will weigh in.

Good luck with this very important part of your Camino. Keeping the feet happy is essential. Buen camino, Laurie
