All of the above, and then some.
At first it was because of the wealth of information. I was clueless about such things as backpacks, hiking shoes/boots, fleece ..... and I could just read, read, read, read, until I felt confident enough to at least ask some intelligent questions.
Now, with my first camino still ahead of me and most of what I need purchased, I find myself gravitating more toward the "subjective" threads, -- how do I define pilgrimage and why *do* I want to do this so much. And what do others think?
And that brings me to the biggest draw. This forum is a rare place where many various, often conflicting, viewpoints can be expressed, and the conversation remains intelligent and civil (for the most part
). Many thanks to Ivar and the great group of moderators. That's a much appreciated gift.
And, finally, how else would I know I'm not alone in finding the forum so much more entertaining than studying my Spanish, heheh... Glad to know the Voice Translator app works well
. I will need it!
