Why can't I start a Private Conversation?

I guess I need help from a tech guy/gal. I have tried to start a private conversation with someone who is a registered member of the forum. When I try to start it (i.e., post it), I get a message that says "You may not start a conversation with the following recipients: forum member name "

Does anyone have an idea what is causing this? Thanks. Buen camino, Laurie

Hola Laurie. Can you start any conversation at all, or only reply to one? If you cannot start any then it might be your own privacy settings. Check out whether you allow members or followers to have conversations. If it is their privacy setting then a post saying 'Trying to PM you' to the member concerned might help. You might have to follow one another for a time. (I think)

Well, it was the first time I had the problem, and the member PM-ed me and it was no problem from there. So I'm guessing maybe it was the other person's settings. Thanks, everyone. Laurie
