Who's an expert on getting around Paris?

Time of past OR future Camino
(5/28-7/4, 2012) Camino Frances - SJPP to Santiago
(7/22-8/2, 2013) Camino Finesterra
(?) Camino Le Puy
After my camino, I will be flying back from Santiago into Orly. My daughter will be meeting me in Paris and flying into CDG. I am thinking the best place for us to meet up would be in Montparnasse area as that would be easiest for her.

I am wondering the best transportation to get me from Orly to Gare Montparnasse. Also, does anyone have a recommendation on nice, somewhat inexpensive lodging close to the Gare? I want to get our first night booked and then we can move as needed.

OR.....I am open to any other suggestions that might be better than my idea. Thank you! - M

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I am not an expert but I landed a few times at Orly Airport. Take the bus outside to center Paris. I think is the second stop for Montparnasse . Less than 7 euros. I always use it.

HOTEL DU PARC
6, Rue Jolivet 75014 PARIS
http://www.hotelduparc-paris.com

It is located less than three blocks from the bus stop.
I don't know today's rates. I use to paid 60; 70, and 80 euros per two persons . Breakfast included.
For me is the best place in Paris. Easy to get everywhere. (i always arrive in Paris at -off season- . Rates are lower at this time.
Good luck.

See this recent post for some other hotel suggestions:

Current price for Hotel Parc is around E100, which might be ok for two, but a little expensive for a single en route to Bayonne.

I've gone for the Hotel Gobelins which is a few minutes on the Ligne 91 bus route from Gare Montparnasse and looks a nice friendly place with the personal touch and their email communication has been very pleasant.

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
I always just take the AF bus from the airport. It's fast and direct. http://videocdn.airfrance.com/cars-airf ... ex_en.html

It costs 11.5e drops you right off at Montparnasse. (You can take it from CDG or from Orly)

This hotel is in the Latin Quarter and very convenient to the metro. (around the corner). I was able to get an internet only rate for a non-refundable rate of 99euros- but I booked it months ago. I am not sure if the promotion is still going on...http://www.hoteleurope.net/

You can also check out airbnb.com for studios or apts. to rent for very inexpensive. I usually do that when I stay a bit longer than the two days that I am staying this time (and kindof kicking myself that I didn't do it this time- ah well!)

Good luck and enjoy Paris-my home away from home!
