Which albergues are open?

Time of past OR future Camino
Starting March 5th from Pamplona!
I’m starting the Camino from Pamplona tomorrow. Any suggestions on the best way to tell if an Albergue is open? An app or website that’s up to date? I know many are closed until April and even some that the website Gronze mentions are year round or open in March are actually closed when I call. Looking for any advice on accommodation for the off season pilgrim! Thanks in advance ~

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
Best wishes and buen camino @clairechristie. I think you just may need to go to a bar in town to find out who might be open. Call ahead or WhatsApp ahead if it says they are open on Gronze. I know some will be open for sure as they don't close in the winter such as Hospital de San Juan Bautista in Granon and San Nicholas de Flue in Ponferrada and once you get to Galicia, all the Xunta albergues will be open.

Hola
You may go past Albergue Jesus Y Maria in Pamplona and ask if they have a printet paper of the open albergues.
In SJPDP the pilgrims get a paper when they take off.
Alternative ask some fellow pilgrims if they have said paper and take a photo of the list.

I hope this helps.

Buen Camino.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Just know that the opening dates published are always a best estimate provided by the albergue. Around the opening times and closing times there is always some wiggle room based on the time of year and other personal factors. You’ll never find a perfect list.

The best person to double check with is the hospitalero where you are currently staYang as they are likely in contact with the nearest albergues.

Yes, I agree the hospitalero will likely know what is open for at least the next day.

Thank you so much!! I got a piece of paper from the Pilgrim’s Tourist office in Pamplona - thanks for the suggestion

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Thanks for the suggestion! I wouldn’t have thought to use WhatsApp otherwise
