Where to spend extra time

Time of past OR future Camino
First hopefully this coming fall
Having made some miscalculations in our planning and reservations (which unfortunately we have to do ahead of time because of needing luggage transfers) we will have an extra day or some really short days somewhere after O Cebreiro. (Planning to do the Samos route.) Wondering if there were any suggestions of where might be good places for those short days. Triacastela? (I’ve read lots of comments warning away from Sarria) Any places later on? ( I know little about what’s between Sarria and Santiago.) Thank you

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
My first thought would be to spend the extra day in Santiago, unless you’ve already got a few planned.

Luggage transfer can be arranged (or just the tag completed and bag left for collection) on a day-by-day basis if you really need it, as so many seem to.

You do not have to book every night ahead to use luggage transfer.

Samos is a great detour but is actually a small place with a really large historic monastery. The beauty of the Samos option is the really nice walk both in and out.
If you take the Samos route (which is really lovely), and leave the next morning, you'll arrive into Sarria mid morning, missing the morning rush of pilgrims who will be several hours down the path by then. Plenty of time to walk another quiet 10-12 kms.

Or you could go just under 5km past Sarria and spend the rest of the day at Casa Barbadelo, lazing beside the pool!
Partly it depends what you like to do - birdwatching, art galleries, shopping, rock scrambling? As someone else has said, there is plenty to do in Santiago.

I think for spending a few extra hours somewhere Sarria would be ok and it's actually a nice place, and the next day if you avoid hitting it on a weekend or public holiday it shouldn't be that bad.

Personally I did found that Sarria isn't that bad!
Arriving early I walked the city and had a great time.

But I would consider Melide for a quiet and relaxing day off between Sarria and SdC, too.

After o cebreiro, I don’t think there’s an obvious place to recommend for a rest day. Maybe Sarria, if you go to the older parts. But maybe better to have more time in Santiago and also I recommend bus trip from Santiago to other parts of Galicia either by on tour bus or public bus.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
Casa Barbadelo has the best sangria on a hot day.
