I'm starting the Camino in Valenca but not staying there overnight. I plan to disembark the bus from Porto airport at the bus station in Valenca, wander into the town centre, get my Credencial stamped and a bite to eat, then walk the 3km to Tui and stay overnight before walking to O Porriño the following day.

Can anyone offer advice of where I can get my Credencial stamped in Valenca on a Saturday afternoon? Any churches or Visitor Information centre open? I can't locate the opening times for the Visitor/ Tourist information office on a Saturday.

I already have a Credencial so no need to source one of those in Valenca thankfully.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Nearby the bus station is the albergue in Valença where you can get a stamp
but if you follow the yellow waymarkers , they lead you through the historical fortress with lots of shops, a hotel and a coffee bar. Ask there for a” carimbo” what is the Portuguese word for stamp. In Spain it is called “ sello”
once you arrive in Tui there is a church- to me it looks gothic Next door is the Tui tourist center where you can get a “ sello”
mind from Tui to Santiago you have to obtain two sellos per day to get your Compostella certificate in Santiago. This is obliged for the last 100 kms So get one in the tourist office or the church and on on your way for example in Mos where you pass by .There is an albergue and several restaurants and shops.
Bom caminho

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

When are you starting your Camino? We're hoping to be in Valenca on (or about) April 17.

Hi there,
We are doing something similar but in April. Have you filled in the Portuguese Passenger Locator Form yet? I posted a question earlier asking how to complete it if you're in transit and not actually staying in Portugual so don't have an address in Portugual. We are staying in Tui. See https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/portuguese-plf-if-not-staying-in-portugal.73503/

The PPLF can only submitted 4 days prior to travel so I can’t submit mine yet. I was in a quandary about the address issue as well - I was going to put the address of the albergue in Valenca I intend to stop at to get my Credencial stamped. I’m a bit nervous about stating no address/ in transit etc in case my PPLF is rejected and I can’t then check in online for my flight. I understand (although this may be erroneous) that you can’t check in , or are likely to be denied boarding, if a PPLF either hasn’t been submitted or has been rejected. Maybe someone else may be able to shed light on this?

Am sure we can't be the only people doing this. Good Luck!
