Weather in August

Hi everyone,
We're walking from Le Puy to Conques at the beginning of August and I'm having a hard time figuring out what's the weather like.
Can it get considerably cold in August? I see it's raining these past few days - is that also to be expected in August? How hard does it rain?
I was sure we were going to be sweating ourselves to death and all of a sudden it seems like the weather is quite chilly :)

We're trying to travel as light as possible and not bring any excess baggage, so having to carry semi-winter clothing is a big issue for us.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I don't think it will be "considerably cold" in August, although you may find a few nights chilly (near the pass and near Golinhac). (Bear in mind that as a Pacific Northwesterner my standard for "chilly" is something below 50 degrees F. Your mileage may vary.) You should expect one or two days of rain each week (at least be prepared for it). They have real rain: thunderstorms and gusty winds, quite the squall. I saw two that lasted entire afternoons and I was very grateful for having already reached shelter those days. It cools off the day after the squall line passes.

You do not need to take "semi-winter clothing" such as a fleece or a sleeping bag. But you will find long pants and a layer of T-shirt + long-sleeved=shirt + wind-shell under your poncho will be very adequate for what you face.

Hi there, I'm considering walking from Le Puy to St. Jean next spring if I can get my French up to par. I'm looking on advice on a few things: - Would it be too cool and rainy to start walking...
