Wear and tear

I was wondering about people's experience of wear and tear on their boots/sandals/shoes.

My Hi-Tec Altitude boots were very comfortable and I am very happy with them except that the soles are worn through and the manufacturer tells me they can't be resoled. This is a pity because the uppers and lining are still in good condition.

The boots only lasted one 1300 km Camino and I will have to buy new boots. Part of the reason for the excessive wear will be my weight.

What sort of distance have other people's boots lasted?

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
My 1250km+ vasques from 2007 are still walking, but starting to fray a bit. I would not subject them to a second Camino.

My Scarpa Vento hiking shoes have done about 1000kms all up and I only wear them now for short walks of around 8 - 10kms, and not far from home. The soles are still intact but very worn with little grip left. And inside the lining has worn away around the heels, so any long distance walking would be uncomfortable.

These were great shoes, a bit on the heavy side, but the only ones that fitted my feet well without causing any pain, so am reluctant to let them go.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
