Walking to Rome

So few people have walked the Via Francigena to Rome, but the word is out and numbers are starting to increase. You can get in before the crowds. We were addicted to pilgrimage after walking to Santiago and after reading Sillydoll's blog decided to walk the VF (from France). Fantastic decision! It's very different, and you walk in fabulous scenery, see great art, eat Italian food. We also took side trips to Florence, Venice and Ravenna. So many funny things happened along the way! Thank you for that tip, Magnara. I have not despaired of doing the VF. I've done parts around Siena, walked the Accona desert south of the city and Montereggioni to the north. It was the VF society, some of whose members I met by accident on my first day in Siena, who started me on the whole pilgrim gig. Haven't stopped!
