Walking this June - Sleeping Bag needed?

I will be walking the camino this June, starting at Villafranca del Bierzo. Is it ok not to bring a sleeping bag to reduce the weight of my load? And is it recommended to bring my own blanket or do the hostels provide blanket?

Reenabluewaters,

Since June will be very warm if not hot you probably will not need a sleeping bag. However you should take a silk or polyester sleeping bag liner for basic covering in the albergues; these are very lightweight and easy to carry. Most, but not all albergues provide blankets, but you probably will not need one in June.

Buen Camino,

Margaret

Margaret is right - most albergues require pilrims to have a 'sack' of some sort as they don't really like hot, sweaty bodies collapsing onto their mattresses! The majority of albergues don't provide linen and mattresses might only have a mattress cover, if that. (The albergues in Galicia sometimes provide a throw-away, paper mattress and pillow case). And I'm sure you don't want to lie on a dirty, sweat stained mattress or have a much used blanket directly on your body either. Take a sleeping bag liner.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
I am on the camino now, have been for weeks i only used my sleeping bag once, always silk liner and if available a blanket, if not on the bed ask sometimes the are in a storage area, tomorrow Ponferada:)
