Walking part of the Camino Frances in preparation for walkin

I am Annemarie from Johannesburg. I am hoping to walk the Camino ignatiano which is a new route started in 2011 I think which goes from Loyola in Northern Spain to Manresa near Barcelona. Has anyone done this? The reason is that I work in the area of Ignatian spirituality and want to possibly raise money to sustain this ministry by getting sponsored walking theroute St Ignatius of Loyola would have travelled - as well as the primary motivation of making a spiritual journey. BUT I am very new to this and the Camino ignatiano looks pretty tough going as there are very few established refugios and far fewer pilgrims on the route. The lack of refugios means longer average walking distances between stopping points. I feel rather daunted. I am wondering whether I should walk part of the much more established Camino santiago first to get into things and see if I can manage it physically I was thinking of Sarria to Santiago or maybe Finesterre in April 2013 and then trying to walk a good chunk of the Camino ignatiano in 2014. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Hola

Let us know what you find out about this new route please. A lot of pilgrims who have easier access to Spain walk a shorter route like Sarria to Santiago, the Camino Ingles etc and then go onto walk much longer distances. It is a good way to gain experience.

Let us know what you decide.

Hi Annemarie,

Last year when walking the frances I met a very nice Jesuit priest in Obanos who was walking to Loyola , he started on the Aragones. In Estella we split up because from there he went on north.
He was a very warm and lovely person but we never exchanged e-mail.
I sent you a pm with his name and maybe you can get in contact with him through one of the local Jesuit orders. He is Swiss but also works in France and Ireland.

Good luck.

Annemarie,

Good I can be of help. Would you please edit the details of the priest and attached website because I saw that you accidentally put my pm on the forum. Don't mind for myself but I do for the priest whose name is now publicly.).

Good luck.
