Via Künig - Léon Sections

We are interested in walking parts of the Via Künig after Léon later this year. There seems to be sufficient information on the Galician Section up to Lugo (where we will then walk the Verte and then continue on to Santiago) but I am having a difficult time finding details of the trail from San Martin del Camino to Ponderrada. https://viakunig.eu/ only goes part of the way but not finding much else. Assistance appreciated. Mike

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Hi Mike,

On their website (viakunig.eu) there is a description of 3 Léon sections. These only cover part of the trail. But there are downloadable tracks to be found.

Note:
  • the description of the 1st Léon section takes you from San Martín del Camino to Santa Marina del Rey (and onwards).
  • the downloadable track runs from Villadangos del Páramo to Santa Marina del Rey. Villadangos del Páramo is about 4 km. before San Martín del Camino.
The trails can be downloaded from Wikiloc:
Not sure, but hope this helps.

The Leon section is definitely a project that is early in development so there is limited info. There is apparently some route markings done - there is a pilgrim welcome in Quintanilla, and also accomodation in hostals in Bembimbre. At Branuelas - some have arranged pick up by accomodation (i think it was the campsite at Villamejil) or take the train back & forward overnight to Ponferrada or Astorga.

Andre is right there are several wikiloc maps available - these guys walked in 2023 and also took photos for instances

There are 2 options to start - either Villadangos which follows on track beside road to Celadilla and then parallel tracks through fields to Santa Marina or from San Martin which follows the canal to Santa Marina del Rey.

There is further info on background at

There is also a Via Kunig Facebook group - at least 2 folks have walked recently the Leon section.

But as for the viakunig.eu the information is developing - a few weeks ago there was no Leon section, and the section 3 to Villamejil is less a week old - so I would think it more may appear quickly enough.
