Via Garonne and on to Lourdes and the Camino del Norte

Time of past OR future Camino

End-August through mid-September, I walked between Toulouse and Santander. From Toulouse I walked along the very nice Via Garonne passing several beautiful French villages - not least ending in Saint-Bertrand.

From there I walked via Lourdes, Orolon and Navarrenx to the coast at Hendaye. From there I walked to Santander along the Norte.

As the Garonne seems to be a path not travelled - I didn't see another walker during the 6 days - I thought I would give it a plug here.

If interested, I have posted a day by day blog and maps of the route I followed at https://followingyourfeet.com/toulouse-to-santander/

Thanks Steve, great pictures. I am planning a trip from Lourdes to Pamplona next summer (hopefully not as much rain as you had) and will walk from Oloron to Navarrenx as well. were you able to find places to stop for food between lourdes and Navvarrenx or did you mainly pack food and carry it? thanks

In general I found that there was very limited infrastructure whilst walking in France - only in the bigger towns, that were typically at the end of a stage, was it possible to purchase things.

It was the same between Lourdes and Navarrenx.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
