This is a last-minute plea. I set off on Tuesday from Vezelay to Le Puy via Cluny, and would love to hear from anyone who has already walked this route - particulary the Chemin d'Assise. I have the relevant books and am now a signed-up member of the relevant Amis association. Therefore I'm asking purely for first-hand accounts of the terrain, accommodation and services, so I can decide which boots to take and what kind of planning I must do with regard to food etc. I look forward to hearing from anyone who has walked this route

Hi metropolly, did not see this posting yet . Be prepared on frequent up and down stages; not very high ( 300/400 m) but it goes on and on. It has been dry here for some time so no mud! Don't know how you planned your stages but the info of the amis d'Assise is very good and correct: mind the fact that services/bars are not always available in this time of the year. But ... 23 km after Vezelay there's refugio Bahia !!!! Where are you from ???

Ah, the magic of this forum! It's late, I'm setting off for France on the early train tomorrow and until a few minutes ago I didn't have much of an idea of what awaited beyond Vezelay - and now Paul has come to the rescue! Now all I need to do is pack (I wish I was one of those pilgrims who did it all months in advance)!

I've only walked the trail from our B&B in Cluny to the Cathedral, but it was a great stop on the drive up to Paris.
