At the end of June 2015 the Vasco had a nice number of pilgrims. For the first night at Santiagomendi there was only us, but from Tolosa onwards we averaged about 7 pilgrims a night. By Haro, there were about 10-12. It seemed to be quite popular and well liked by Basque folk - we met three who started from their front doors and joined.
BTW I don't think many people stay at the albergue in Andoain as for most folk it falls mid-stage. But as you walk past it, it's worth popping in and saying hello. The hospitalero in 2015 was an amazing champion long distance runner and camino runner and a massive enthusiast for the camino - and I think he was in his late 60s or so....
