Valenca/Tui to O Porrino - Path conditions

Walked from Valenca today through to Mos. There has obviously been a lot of rain recently and water is high. Near the cruceiro for San Telmo the normal path is impassable. options are, before the bridge take a (not very obvious) left along left side of the river for 30m and cross the river via very convenient tree trunk that somebody has left. This is narrow and may require help from other Pilgrims to aid balance when crossing. The alternative taken by two members of my group today Is to wade across. River is knee deep but passable. Subsequently there are several.places where the river is flooding over the path but is passable.

The diversion before the industrial estate is (IMHO) much nicer than the old route. At the moment it is very muddy and involves at one point walking up a flowing stream bed. Make sure you have waterproof boots as this section is also very wet and boggy Or walk the old route through the Poligono

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Thanks for the heads up. I will be going through the Valenca to Mos stage this weekend. Starting from Porto on Wednesday.

Leaving Porto tomorrow - hopefully will have subsided by the time we reach Mos. There were plenty of the same things prior to Porto too.

Cheers

aaaaggghh - I was planning on simply taking sandals for walking; now I'm wondering about the wisdom of this. On the other hand, we don't leave until June and so it will probably have all dried out by then - and if not a barefoot wade in summer is quite pleasant I suppose.

Did the CP Oct 2014 – just got a taxi from Tui to the alberque in Porrino – thus avoiding the “industrial area “ – the taxi cost 5€ each 4 sharing
