Use Albergue before getting credential?

Hello! Our flights got complicated. We now have to fly into Pamplona and stay overnight before we travel to and start in SJPDP the following day—so we will not yet have picked up our pilgrim credencial. Will we be allowed to stay in an Albergue without the credencial? Thanks in advance!

We are unsure! We are just leaving Dallas. Wanted to make sure we could book an albergue without having the credencial. We get in VERY late and won’t have a chance to pick not up. Thank you.

Most of the albergues in Pamplona shown on the Wise Pilgrim app are private, and accept non-pilgrims along with pilgrims.
In general, the public, parochial, and association albergues cannot not be reserved (though that seems to be changing in some places)

But you may want to book a private room to get a good night's rest after your long flight. Oftentimes private rooms for two people aren't much more expensive than two beds in an albergue. And many private albergues offer private rooms in addition to bunks.

Private accommodations don't require a credential and could care less if you have one when you make reservations.

If it is the first night on Camino, you should be allowed to stay and most albergues will also sell you a credencial. As hospis, that is what we always do.

The Jesus y Maria albergue has credentials and will give you a feel for the big albergues you may come across. There are "warehouse" style albergues (like JyM) along the way.
It will give you a feel for what kind of albergue suits you. If you can handle JyM, you'll be golden.
If not there are a few places you may want to seek alternate accommodation.

Keep in mind, if arriving "very late", albergues may be closed for the night. As suggested, a hotel might work better if that's the case.
 
Another credential question. I hiked the Frances this Spring with a friend. I developed terrible blisters (hint-never get a pedicure with the callus scraping before hiking) and had to sit out for two weeks while they healed. I stayed with family/friends while he hiked on. I rejoined him in Leon and finished the Frances with a Compostela at the end. I have two weeks available and want to hike the part of the Frances that I missed (Logrono to Leon). Can I use my old credential?
