Have any Pilgrims encountered Twelve Tribes members on the Camino routes? Twelve Tribes is an American based religious movement. News accounts in the American media suggest Twelve Tribes is a cult with controversial practices. I have encountered American long distance hikers who met Twelve Tribes members at two locations on the Appalachian trail. This organization is interested in recruiting people. I do not suggest that members of this organization are dangerous but are looking for recruits.

A member has suggested that we make note that The Twelve Tribes group does operate an albergue on the Norte. Further discussion on the forum may violate one of the forum rules.

This thread was locked because we aren't looking for a debate on the mission, lifestyle, or beliefs of the Twelve Tribes, but I think that this article is good for some background about the group, should anyone be interested in staying with them.
