Traveling with a Baby

Hi,

We are planning to walk the camino for 1 week around Easter (April 2011) with a 14 month-old toddler.
We will fly into Santiago from the UK and take the route from O Cebreiro to Santiago.
Plenty of questions... Maybe some of them have been answered already but it would be handy to have them all in one place:
1. Getting there and away - From the airport in Santiago to the starting point - How? Will we have to get at taxi and if so are we required for a child seat (I wouldn't want to be carrying one with me)
2. We would rather stay in a hotel/b&b, because of the baby - Where can I find a good hotel list for the area? Will I need to book in advance?
3. April weather - Any experience?
4. Evening time... Could anybody share tips about evening time drill? Our son goes to sleep quite early (7pm), normally if we're out and about we would have him in a push chair but that won't be relevant in this case. Any advice of how to manage the evenings from those of you who have done this with babies?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hello. I cannot answer your questions but, when I was on the Camino last year (I go for a few months or so each year doing first aid and offering English tea, etc)) I met a couple with an infant in a buggy. They had chosen one of those large wheel three-wheelers and attached lots of baggage to it. They were in their mid twenties and were having an absolutely wonderful time. They were obviously very much in love and their tiny child was delightful and seemed quite content.

It really is a superb 'event' and I do hope that you do well.

Hope that this helps in some small way.

Hi! Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm looking to do a week or so of the Santiago with a baby in a buggy. How did it go? We're working out a start point, travelling from Bilbao.

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.

The thread originator joined, posted, then never came back. You are not likely to get an answer!! ;)

Hi, @ofridar,

My response might seems a bit grumpy but here it goes:
1.) In the time you composed your question your could've been already answered it if you would use internet search: https://www.rome2rio.com/s/Santiago-de-Compostela-Airport-SCQ/O-Cebreiro
2.) Same: www.booking.com or www.gronze.com
3.) Same: http://www.caminodesantiagotiempo.com/caminofrances/index.htm or www.wunderground.com
4.) If your toddler goes to sleep at 7 pm then that's your drill, I'd say. If s/he would be happy with carying around than that's OK, if not you now what to do ;)
5.) Have a Buen Camino! :)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi and welcome to the forum @Feicity Harer

You might have better luck starting a new thread with your questions. It would be also helpful if you give there a bit more info like: age of baby, which Camino you want to take, which time of the year etc.

Buen Camino, SY
