Maripi Taxi will take you for the following prices. This is per taxi and one taxi will take up to 8 people, so if you can gather a group, it will be cheaper. You can email them to see if they have a taxi already going on your date. Use Google Translate to cut/paste a message or write it in English and they can do the translating on the other end.

See my post to Janika, about six posts earlier. You can use ALSA. It'll cost you 45 euros for the two of you.

ALSA provides ~seasonal~ bus service (Service provider is Conda) from Pamplona to SJPdP. Use the international tab (Spain - France) and check the 'query with no date' button.

At time of writing there is one bus from Pamplona Bus Station leaving 1730 17 March to 30 Sept 2014. In summer of 2013 there were 3 buses daily so watch the schedule.

SJPdP is connected to Bayonne by train 4 times per day and so may be a more viable route.

Regarding the accommodation question, my wife and I stayed at the Gite Zuharpeta in SJPP. We had a private room with shared bath, with dinner and breakfast included -- what they call the demi-pension. Between the anxiety of knowing we'd be taking that first big step in the morning and the desire to enjoy more night of privacy before plunging into the albergue routine, we felt the extra cost was worth it. http://gitezuharpeta.wifeo.com/tarifs.php The website is all in French, but just be sure to click the links that say "Pelerins" to get the pilgrim pricing. Reservations were made by email, and they asked for a 15 € deposit, which meant sending cash through the mail. Fortunately, we had a few Euros left over from a trip to Italy the previous year, so having the exact amount in Euros was not a problem for us.
Buen Camino,
Jim

Try Errecaldia - www.errecaldia.com - It's just up the street from the Pilgrim office. It seems to me I recall paying 35€ for two people per night including breakfast. If you're jet-lagged it's quiet as well. ask for Tim.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Another alternative is to use the handy transfer service from Pamplona to SJPdP offered by Pension Corazon Puro. I stayed with them last October on the way down from Roncesvalles. The twin bedded room was comfy, the dinner delicious, and the hosts most gracious.
