Camino Frances (May 2014)
Hi everyone,
Ready to go in mid May.
As Ryan air keep changing flights (hopefully last time) I now have a few hours delay in Biarritz waiting for train to St Jean Pied de Port.
One transport company are unable to transport (Express Bourricot) so does anyone know of others?
Arriving on 17th May 15:25 local time.

Thanks
Andy

Ps counting days to go :-)

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Andy,

Trains for SJPdP leave from the Bayonne rr satation (Gare SNCF BAYONNE).
A taxi from Biarritz airport to Bayonne will roughly cost 20 Euros.

However from Biarritz aeroport (Anglet) you could take a Chronopost bus 14 to the BAYONNE rr station (Gare SNCF BAYONNE). For scheduled times see >> http://www.chronoplus.eu/ . Buses leave every 20 minutes throughout the day; travel time is roughly 45 minutes. Cost is minimal.

Since you are traveling on a Saturday you could then take the ligne 62 TER train from Bayonne to SJPdP at 18.06/arrives 19.31/Monday thru Saturday.

Bon Voyage,

Margaret Meredith

Hi Andy,

As mentioned above, the bus could be a great option for you. Have taken twice and is quite easy. One time arrived on a Saturday and another mid-week.

Walk right out front of airport in Biarritz (BIQ) and turn to the left. You'll see the places to stand for the bus. As of '12, the fare was less than 2 euro and both trips to Bayonne took less than 25 minutes in early afternoon. An easy ride over to the Bayonne train station. Train ticket is around 10 euro and it seems you will have a little time to walk around before departure.

Having the same as well, I was able to venture out to buy my food supplies for the next day. I found a great market area on the other side of the bridge crossing the river and then found a nice "supermarket" closer to the train station to get my supplies. I liked doing this as I could be all prepared for the next day walk and not have to scramble around so much once arriving at SJPdP.

May you have the best of journeys.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Andy!

We are flying from South Africa and have quite a few connecting flights to get to Biarritz in France. Due to the long day of travelling we are looking to get a private shuttle from Biarritz to St Jean for the last stretch, and also get us there while it's still light. We have already been quoted 120 euros for the trip and we are looking to share this shuttle with up to 6 more people. We arrive in Biarritz (From Paris) at 15:50 on the 17th of May 2014.

Please email me if you are interested and I'll send you the details: cmalevris@msn.com

Hi Simeon,
Thanks for this. Useful information.

Hi, I have a similar problem like mentioned above... Me and my wife arrive to Biarritz at 15:05 on 18th May. It is Sunday so using public transportation we would end up in SJPdP after 22:30. Since it is quite possible all the affordable accommodations will be taken by then we would prefer to arrive to SJPdP earlier.

Does anyone know of any other services like Express Bourricot (they are already booked at the time of our arrival)? Also if there is anyone else looking for transport on that afternoon, it might be cheaper if we team up.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Writing from Belorado, a day or two,shy of Burgos . . . I used the Express Bouricot private shuttle service to get from Gare Bayonne to StJPP. Superb service. Met me at the station and introduced herself as I emerged. Cost is about €72, split by however many riders there are. She serves Bayonne and Biaritz. Google it for contact info. Reservations in advance are a definitive must, otherwise they run afoul of French taxi regulations.

Hi Mark077

Yes I contacted Express Bourritcot as well and had the same problem (didn't ask about a private shuttle and wasn't given the option either ). Andy and myself are now using www.biarritzairporttransfers.com (or email James at biarritzairporttransfers@gmail.com). It's costing us €120 for 8 people.

If you are able to change your date by 1 day to 17th, you are more than welcome to join us. We still have 4 places left.

Good luck fellow Pilgrim :)

Thanks, that looks like a good alternative. However, the price is reasonable only if one manages to fill that van up. I'll try contacting them and see how it works out.

Perhaps in the meantime someone else might provide a better option...

I hope you are successful in filling up all 4 of those seats.
Unfortunately I have booked flights a while ago and the date of arrival to Biarritz is fixed.

Good luck to you guys as well. Maybe we meet somewhere on The Way. :)

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Hi Marko,
Expressbourricot also have a page where it appears they have spaces on already booked transport.
They have spaces at 13:30 which is not your flight time but have noticed the list will be updated again around May 6th, worth checking as something may come up.

I just added a link to the camino resources about getting to and from the Biarritz airport.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I am still looking for some more people to join us on May 18th from Biarritz to SJPdP. At the moment we are arranging a ride with Express Bourricot at
17h30. There are 3 of us at the moment and we are looking for more people to share the ride with us to make it cheaper (total price: €72, total number of seats: 8).

Hi I'm travelling to Burgos to walk part of the Camino Frances next year and my options seems to be fly into Santander and coach to Burgos, or fly into Madrid, then coach to Burgos. Don't think...
Hello! I’ve been browsing the forum and there’s plenty of info for baggage transfers from stage to stage, where you pick it up daily, give it back and move on, however what I’m after is a service...
