This website has a good overview of buying tickets in Spain and explaining the different types of fares and train classes. It also explains how to transfer between train stations in Madrid. Might be of some use to those traveling by train. Even explains how to manage the clunky Renfe booking system...

I learned a lot by trial and error last summer when we took a lot of different trains and buses in our 6 weeks shuttling between two different Caminos, our volunteer albergue assignment location, and some other vacation spots. I think might have made it easier if I had stumbled on this site before today.
 
...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
