train from Barcelona to St Jean

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
No. You need to go first to Pamplona and then change to a bus for SJPDP. In winter there is no bus service. If you want to finish the journey by train it is a more complicated journey via Irun, Hendaye and Bayonne. Barcelona is not a good arrival point within Spain if you want to begin your walk in SJPDP.

Is there a train that goes from Barcelona to St Jean
No, you will likely need to take a train to Madrid or Zaragoza, then transfer to a train or bus to Pamplona and then a bus or cab to St Jean. Maybe fly from Barcelona to Pamplona and the cab or bus to St Jean?

Looks like the best connection is the AVE or fast train to Zaragoza and then a regular speed train to Pamplona. I use the Trainline app to look at train and bus connections and to buy tickets. But other people like the Rome to Rio site to look at connections.

Hi Lleigh,
I think that your first step is Barcelona to Pamplona.
All this information is about 11-05-2023, random date.
There are two options. I prefer train.

I wish you enjoy your time in Barcelona.

Bon Camí.

Of our four camino frances, in 2019 we flew to Barcelona to enjoy that city before and after our camino. We spent two nights in Barcelona, took a train to Pamplona, spent a night there then took a bus to St Jean. One overnight there then we began our hike to Santiago. We enjoyed Barcelona; it was a pleasant change from our other three caminos starting in Madrid. Bob

I took the train from Barcelona to Pamplona and then the bus from the train station to the main bus station in Pamplona. A bunch of Pilgrams were doing the same thing, so it was easy to tell what bus to board and when to get off. I then took a bus from the Pamplona station to SJPP. I was nervous about doing it, but I didn’t need to be. I don’t know why anyone would need to take the train to Madrid first - there isn’t any need for that.

This is a long shot I know, but if by chance your travel dates are early June .... We are also getting a train from Barcelona to Pamplona, spending two nights, then will get an early taxi on Sat 3rd June to SJPDP and start walking the same day. Happy to share a taxi with anyone who needs a ride that day.

Hello Joanne !! We are traveling from Barcelona on June 3 to Pamplona and would love to share a car , there is 3 of us ! We will be staying in St Jean as well . Can I send my email in this forum ? This would be great if we could ride share , I read its approx $120 for a car ride ?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
There is a personal message function that you can use. The little envelope in the header?

I got so excited I replied before I read “ early taxi” then start walking . We will be arriving to Pamplona by train from Barcelona at 1:24 pm , so that will probably be too late in the day for you to travel then start walking ….. it almost worked ! Enjoy your Camino

Hi. Our taxi is booked for 6:30am on Saturday June 3rd, Pamplona to SJPDP. Unfortunately it sounds like that will be too early for you, if you are leaving Barcelona on the 3rd. What a shame! We would have been happy to share with you otherwise.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hello Joanne yes almost worked enjoy your camino
Thank you. And Buen Camino to you. We'll probably see you along the way. We plan on walking slow this time, and stopping at Borda the first night. So say hello if you see this older (60-ish) couple from Australia .
