As the planning progresses, more questions arise. Again, I will appreciate your help. Can the Pyrenees be crossed in mid-October? And if the answer is yes- what route is better?
How can we return from Roncesvalles to Paris?
Thanks
Sharon
Use the ALSA/Conda bus line to get to SJPdP where you can get a train to get you other connections. Spell Saint in full at the ALSA website https://www.ALSA.es/en/How can we return from Roncesvalles to Paris?
Thanks Dave. Your comment is important . It is very difficult to make a decision from such a distance of time. I assume that we will have to take into account that we may not be able to cross this time. The official date of closure for the Napoleon route is November 1st, but that can be earlier if the weather brings an earlier and heavy snowpack. The Valcarlos route through the Pyrenees from St Jean is open year around, but Pilgrims may be advised against travel on a particular day if the weather poses an undue risk.
The Pilgrim office in SJPdP will always provide the best current weather and travel advice for pilgrims.
For returning to Paris from Roncesvalles, you can see some options here.
