Things to ponder whilst walking

Time of past OR future Camino

Hi - thought I would post up a few philosophical questions that one could ponder as one strolled along ...

1) What am I?
2) Why am I?
3) If I buttered the back of a cat which side up would it land?
4) What on earth is going on - what is this reality?
5) Where did I last put my glasses?
6) If animals could talk which one would be the rudest?
7) What would The Way film be like if they made it into a stage musical?
8) Could the Loch Ness monster be a swimming Giraffe?
9) Is it better to be nice or kind?
10) If the love of money is the root of all evil why do they ask for it in churches?
11) Would having a long tail, like a Kangaroo's, be better than a walking pole?
12) Would a Centaur get a Compostela?

Any more???? ;)

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Does it matter if the path goes up or down hill, if the end is the destination?
What is a destination?
Why am I walking?
Why am I stopping? (Oh, it's a hill in front of me.)
Why am I walking?
Is that wild thyme next to me?
What is that cat's name?
Is the cat's Spanish better than mine?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Questions can be a way of filling in the time with a busy mind on a long walk. Much more fulfilling is to let them drop away and walk with the silence of a quiet mind, acknowledging the passing sensory inputs of the present moment. After some days or weeks your emptiness may give you a surprising gift. Who am I God and who are you?

Who loses one boot?
Why does every cow I pass look at me like I'm an idiot?
Am I the only one who can cut themselves on a Bocadillo? And can you take a sharp Bocadillo on a plane?
What if Hontanos did not magically appear this time?
Am I the only one who names my blisters. And talks to them for hours? Is this normal?
Can you eat Storks? (Shall I bring a climbing harness next time)?
Why is my beer glass empty again?
Does the compostela certify you as a nutter? If so can you get help?
How come I am happily in pain?
What is the point of pulpo?
Why are those people following me, again.
Who's idea was this?
What if when I get there St. James has moved to Moscow?
What if you went into a China shop and could not find what you needed?
Why do singing nuns scare me so much?
Where are we going again?
Who invented weather? And why?
What is the point of flies? How come they don't like Marmite?
How come I've lost one boot?
.............

Ok...we are getting into some serious belly laugh stuff here. Brilliant musings!! 👍 what fun we could have one night all together at an albergue with stand up one liners like this.

As ever David, wonderful. Brought a huge smile to my face. Regarding the rudest animal, could well be my dog when I shoved her out in the rain just now if the look she gave me is anything to go by.

Why did I choose to walk a week after all of Spain was freshly manured?
Is that mud or is it...?
Why do the flies in the Meseta try to grasp the molecule of oxygen that just entered my lungs?
Why when I cover my mouth with my neck cosy do the flies attempt to get molecules of oxygen from my lungs through my eyes?
Who came up with the idea in Rioja to update the km markers every km?
Am I disturbed to have fantasies of having the toes on my left foot removed at the next medical clinic?
Does the mastiff charging me know I'm a pacifist?

Why is a kilometer on the Camino longer than a kilometer?
Why does even small pueblos become mazes when I am looking for my lodging?
Why do they all smile when I speak Spanish?
Why is the top of the hill always behind the next turn?
Why are all dogs called Pierrot?
Was Pulpo originally invented as a secret weapon of deterrence?

"I wonder where the next wifi access is?"
"What can I do to boost my likes on my vlog?"
"Why don't the albergues have pots and cutlery in the kitchen?"
"Is that foul smelling person going to get the bunk beside me tonight?"
"I wonder if that group of people are surgically joined at the hip or if they ever do anything alone?"
"Why can't all these people stop talking and listen to the silence?"
"Seriously, can't they hear the clickety clacking?"

Do the storks and the little birds that nest in their nest talk to each other?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

1. I
2. ?
3. Never considered.
4. Please...let the dream...?
5. Shot glasses, sunglasses, reading glasses,
obsidian dragon slaying glasses?
6. Ashes would blow away.
7. Yes, but with a trident in mouth.
8. Kind.
9. Money is needed to pay for warding off evil.

Can’t answer 10 and 11 because I would have to add another space for 1-9.

1. Are Dutch cows (black and white) still Dutch cows if they are in France, surrounded by white cows?

2. Why can't I remember where I started this morning? Was it Santander? Wait no, it was Santillana. No, wait...

3. My skin is itching, but it wasn't bedbugs. Wait, could it be bedbugs now? No, still fine. How about now?

After walking for 32 days with by brain singing the first verse of Copa cabana on repeat my question was "does anyone know the second verse?"

Other musings were:
How many times have I said or heard Buen camino.?
I wonder if tonight's dessert wil be one of those small flans?
Are lights on the toilet designed to cause maximum disorientation by switching off after 7 seconds?
Has anyone ever actually beaten the light and made it out in time?
What would this person look like? Door bursts open, triumphant pilgrim falls into the bar area with coat tucked in underwear and hands still covered in soap.
And my most pressing (and strangely serious) question.. should I risk starting my Camino in the second week of the Easter holidays or wait till the following week.
