Time of past OR future Camino
I started in st jean and am currently in leon. My foot is blistered after my boots wore out.

Have completed many long distance treks longest is 1000 km, bibulmun track.
This thread is about watersports on the camino.

I am a lap swimmer so i will comment on this as I go along.

Saint Jean - has an olympic swimming pool, municipal, with funny staff who sit inside it all day and let the public in at odd times.

Pamplona, great aquatic center, great staff, great opening times. Very professional, very impressed. Must visit for all lap swimmers.

Estrella 25 meter outdoor, super clean. Swing by the euroski supermarket for food on the way back to the municipal.

Logrono did not get to the pool had farewell drinks for pilgrims instead.

Burgos has a great indoor pool 25meter. The pool is heated and has an additional hydrotherapy spa attached. Great for cleaning the toenails with the waterjets.

Price 4euro comed with free locker hair dryer etc. This is as far as i have gone.

Pleade add in any pools spas comments questions etc that i have missed.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Thanks for your list so far - we'll be walking 20 miles plus every day and to fit that in we'll be taking a siesta when it gets to warm to walk - bit of resting, sight seeing and thought it would be fun to splash about for a bit - not really lap swimmers ourselves - then walk on for a couple of hours when it's a bit cooler - so totally appreciate your pool list for planning :)

How lovely. Because we all like to swim in public pools with bits of toe-jam flotsam in the water. o_O

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
Hontanas pool needs maintenance.

Formista pool opens next month. With the heat i am thinking it should be open now.

Hehe, it didn't occur to me to bring a bathing suit! I haven't noticed it being suggested so far. Hubby & I will be starting CF in early Sept. I love to swim laps. Any info on whether they'll still be open in fall? If not, suit will be unwanted weight.
Bien Camino

Sahagun municipal pool opens 1 july.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Thanks for this information Oztrekker....I am very sure that there will be quite a bit of interest in the info you've provided. I know that on my own Face-book group, Australian Pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago... that there have been people who have asked about facilities such as swimming pools etc. Kind regards...

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Leon municipal is great. One 25m, a kids pool, and a 50m indoor about 2.40 so itsthe cheapest so far.

About 15 minute walk south west of the municipal.

Tomorrow i will visit the university pool about 15min north east of the cathedral and write another review.

Also will do the paris spa hotel.

I visited the pool on universidad, 15 min walj north east of the cathedral. It is a municipal but it is really great. Today it was hot and superbusy.

I was able to do 1500m without any drama.

I like this pool in summer as it has an outdoor 50m.

Whereas the southwest municipal has the indoor 50m for winter time. I would guess it is heated in winter.

One of my three sets of undies went out.
A set of Speedos went in.
As I wash clothes by hand every night they were only used once or twice as emergency undies. They were fine.
Lots of pools, and some river swimming, was available in September along the Frances.

I'm not a swimmer, but must say that this thread now provides information that should be quite interesting to those who do enjoy swimming!

Catching up on the thread.

Super cool, but "dangerous". Idiots will be idiots and push shopping trolleys etc off the diving board. Much liquor is consumed here so that could indicate a potential for broken glass in the water.

Villa franca di bierzo.

1.50 you get a free swimming cap.

Pool clarity not great. The lifeguard had a go at me for swimming too fast at my 800m mark. I stepped it up and left the pool at 1km.

The children are out of control and unsupervised by the parents.

Then after my swim i was in the wonderful verrandah bar area, attempting this email and a mother lit up a cigarette, i was down wind recovering my breath from my swim and copped the full marlborough second hand smoke.

Not sure if it was deliberate or not.

This is my last post.

Santiago pool is a 25m. Well maintained with ropes and a fast lane for lap swimmers.

I missed many pools along the way. So hopefully you the members can add your photos and reviews of the piscinas/pools that i never visited.

Hopefully Luka will add her review of porto marin which looked amazing as I walked in.

Kind regard

Happy Swimming to all on the camino.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
There were lots of people swimming in Molinaseca yesterday. I thought it would be lovely to jump in so got changed, but I had forgotten how cold outdoor swimming in Europe is so only managed 30 seconds up to my knees.

Today there are a few people swimming in Cacabelos, just like the above pic, but it looked dangerous and no proper entry or exit points, unlike Molinaseca, which has been designed quite well.

It was pouring with rain when I stayed in Acebo and there was a river running down the main street. I didn't need a pool to do a 'lap'!!!!

What a beautiful view from the pool. Oztrekker, where is it located in El Acebo?

I think this is at the big new albergue at the bottom end of the village - we passed it this May and I noticed it had a pool. It's a big modern complex - you can see it from halfway up the mountain because its flag poles stick up above the surrounding landscape!
