Suitable app?

Time of past OR future Camino
2019
I am sure this has been asked somewhere so please forgive me…

Is there an app for the Camino Mozárabe for iPhone?

Many thanks

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I've never come across one. And given the very small numbers on the Mozarabe that is perhaps not surprising. I walked the Mozarabe branch from Malaga before COVID and used some local websites for information. Links in the post below. Gronze has useful information on the Mozarabe too. If you can find a decent GPS track to use with a mapping app then that should be an adequate substitute for a dedicated app.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Just looked at Gronze and see that they have done some recent work on the Mozarabe. A note on the main page says "Etapas desde Granada elaboradas; el resto en junio de 2023." It doesn't look quite complete yet [edited for correction]. I wonder if they are working in collaboration with the Amigos.

Hi Patrick
Check out other threads on this sub forum for Mozárabe. Lots of helpful info .
Apart from Gronze.com which has great info for many camino routes - check in with Nely in Almería.
I’ll try to attach a link to the pdf file she will send you. This one is only feb2023. Contact one of the names on the link - there are a few amigos who give great support; especially the first section to Granada. Others amigos further on take up the baton of support.

Buen camino

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

As of today on the Almeria variant, just stages 3-9 have no accommodations listed, but there are maps.

I walked the Mozarabe from Malaga to Muxia starting in Sept and used Mapy.cz app which has the route marked and also shows the accommodation including municipal albergues all available to use offline as well
I haven't used mapy for accommodations before. How do you find them on the app?

I walked out of Malaga this spring. I was impressed with how well the trail was marked, considering it's such an uncommon route. Gronze.com was my main reference, along with Sara Dhooma's vlog. (She documented the albergues pretty well, and Gronze's information is patchy up to Baena.)

As for navigation, I mostly used mapy.cz, but the gronze phone app was useful as well.

Buen camino
Thanks so much for this Annie. While I haven't even walked my camino this year, I want to do the Mozarabe next year. I know there is some great info like the file you provided here in the forum. I am just going to have to pose the question of what is an accurate and VERY simple to use GPS app and have some kind soul show me how to set it up. But that is next year's planning. When it comes to albergues it looks like once again Gronze has provided AAA information!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Good luck with planning next year @lt56ny

Re a simple app: I agree with you … find one that you are comfortable with. Everyone raves about the one they use 😉
But about 10 minutes before reading your post / I was actually thinking of starting a thread - it’s a subject that needs its own thread. (Ie so many apps ). But bottom line - good to have back up of a gps app should you need to get back onto the trail.

You may check the Buen camino APP it has all starting points Málaga Almería Jaén.
Edit: The author wrote it's not finished yet. But you can see the stages, locations, the map and the profile.

@lt56ny , what apps or navigation tools have you used thus far? Are you looking for something different because the one you use now doesn't have the Mozarabe?

I thnk the simplest thing might be to get Organic maps, download the gps file, and follow the marker (you) along the line. Or, I believe mapy.cz will do that and more, but I haven't used it.
