Camino Frances (2018)
We arrived in Paris today April 18 our train to St Jean tomorrow is canceled due to rail strike. Strike is over on April 20 but all trains to St Jean are booked through April 21st. Looking for ideas on how to get to St Jean sooner. Anyone out there with same problem or suggestions.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Try going by bus to Bayonne.
Search on www.Rome2Rio.com
for possibilities.

I just checked the goeuro site, and see these bus/plane options to Bayonne.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Thanks to all for the suggestions. You are right about worst places to be stuck just hate to loose walking time

Or try Blablacar. I'm seeing plenty of rideshare offers from Paris to SJPdP. Bonne chance!

(EDIT: And to be perfectly honest: there are worse places to get stuck...)
So true, and they can begin there Camino in Paris for that metter . Who needs a train when you can walk .;)
Sorry , could not resist.

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
Just because trains aren't bookable doesn't mean they're full, as the SNCF have deactivated the reservation system for strike days.

I'd say, try and get the train immediately after the time that you initially reserved for, even if that meant changing at Bordeaux rather than direct to Bayonne, as your tickets will be valid for that train.

Try for the 12:52 out of Montparnasse, for an arrival at SJPP at 19:37 -- though there's also a 11:52 with a change at Bordeaux which would do the trick (same arrival time at SJPP)

Jabba, thanks we went to the SNCF counter at Montparnasse and worked them for an hour on various options. Apparently there is French holiday this week and all the trains are booked. We ended up with a ticket on Flixbus for April 20 so only lost a day. Thanks again to all for the help.

Get your steps in tomorrow on the towpaths of the Marne on the outskirts of Paris...if the RER is carrying passengers.

In French, but you can use Google or another translator.

There is another walk across Paris from east to west but I cannot locate the site.

Bon chemin demain. Y buen camino!

Tom

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Ah, yeah, school holidays period, I see.

Were I alone in Paris today and wanting to get to SJPP via the SNCF, I'd probably try the 10:25 train from Montparnasse with two changes, but this sort of thing instantly becomes more difficult when it's more than just one person, as a single traveller is easier to fit into some handy corner on a train than two or more.

Good luck getting to SJPP, and buen Camino !!

Michelle. Thanks for the suggestion, have been to the Louvre, we heading to Musée d’Orsay. Hope the weather on the Camino is as nice as it is here in Paris #superdayinParis

If there is someone else stuck in Paris, I might have two places left this sunday in a minibus to SJPdP, with an overnight stay around Poitiers.

Stuck for 4 days in Paris! You are lucky. Buy your soonest available train tickets to SJPP and enjoy Paris. Go see Versailles. See the Orsay and Louvre. Go to Sacre Cour at sundown and enjoy the view. I would consider it my first Camino blessing to be providentially stuck in Paris.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Hello! I’ve been browsing the forum and there’s plenty of info for baggage transfers from stage to stage, where you pick it up daily, give it back and move on, however what I’m after is a service...
