Strike of trains in France

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The handy calendar of potential strike days posted above by Monasp shows when strikes may be on but where they will occur ie on which lines is not posted until the day before at 17:00 ; all lines will not be striking each day. Be sure to check on www. Oui.sncf for that info.

Also, it is the nature of the strikes that service is disrupted but not entirely halted. That is, you may have to take a different train, but there will be some service wherever you are going. Particularly if you are heading out on a 35-day pilgrimage, a three hour delay is not life altering!! Just take it in stride. It will be only one among many departures from your "plan.":)

Very useful!!!
Merci, @Monasp - and @mspath for additional information.
There's nothing in life we can control, so we may as well get used to it - but sometimes it's possible to mitigate the headaches with a little judicious planning.

I am planning on leaving Paris on the 23rd to Le Puy to start my Via Podiensis. Anybody else planning this dates/places, we could try to find an alternative.

I am flying into Paris from Canada on April 12. Have rail ticket to Bayonne for 13th. I have been watching the dates and my train # has been cancelled each day of the strike. I have now rented a car to drive from Paris to Bayonne on Friday 13th just to be sure I get out of Paris.
