Dear Members
I am trying to find out if anyone knows how to get from porto to Vilarinho by public transport, As I only have a limited amount of days to walk to Santiago I am going to do the 1st stage by public transport and then the same day walk from Vilarinho to Barcelos, thank you
regards Liz

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I only found an itinerary from a bus service from the metrostation Trindade in the center of Porto to Vilarinho .http://www2.valpi.pt/anexos/agrupamento8.pdf
I do not know if you stay in Porto. Another option is take a taxi from the airport to Vilarinho which is not a big distance and closer than the bus trip from Trindade.

I was also wondering. Thanks. I will look into the bus. We will have bikes so assuming our options are much slimmer. We have a long day the first day to reach our accommodation so looking at all routes including the costal then cut over to the central route.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Porto's metro line B stops at Santa Clara (on the outskirts of Vila do Conde), which is right on the connecting route between the Coastal and Central paths. The distances work out the same: according to the Brierley guide, if you started at Vilarinho, it would be 8.5km to Arcos, whereas if you started at the Santa Clara metro stop, it would be around 8.8km to Arcos. Both routes to Arcos are on roads (except for 1-2km slightly more scenic woodland on the Central, also accessible if you take a little detour on the connecting route). Anyway it's something to consider, as the metro is regular and runs all day from 6am, so might be more convenient.

[p.s. TulaB the metro allows bikes, so long as they are placed in the rear carriage: https://en.metrodoporto.pt/pages/402]
