Hi
Is the Central Route. Not Interior Route.

Hi Hi Simeon
I'm arriving in Porto on the 26th and will start walking on the 28th.
As an elite athlete in peak condition I should easily catch up with you
and pass you....... oh no, hang on, that was thirty years ago.
I guess you're always going to be two days ahead of me. Ah well.

ah yes its the central route not the interior route as Amsimoes points out! Now once the knee is up to it Got ITB the last two times. found that putting the weight of my pack on my shoulders made a huge difference whe out a few weekends ago!

Greetings, Introebo! I must admit I did a double take on your photo as I read that :)!!
Nice to see you "came clean" at the end of your comment ......mind you, if I had written it, I would have had to say "oh no, hang on, that was FIFTY years ago!"
Bom caminho!

Stephen, I think never might be nearer the mark for me !

Simeon, can I ask are you thinking of doing the Variante Espiritual ? If we have enough time I would
really like to take this diversion. At the moment it's all rather hypothetical as I'm having problems with
my back, so it may just be a general wander out of Porto, see how far I get after a few days and then buses
to fill in the gaps. All very frustrating at the moment.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi I am arriving in Porto on September 24 and start walking on the 25th, taking the coastal route. I am a very slow walker LOL so I may be out there for awhile!

Suffering backproblems , the boat trip from Vila Nova de Arousa to Pontecessures(Padrón) can be a hard one. You saw my vid. After 6 month now I still feel the bumping of the waves :p

Hi Albertinho
It was your vid that has got me hooked on the boat trip, so I'll send the doctors bill to you !
You're right, sailing is hard work. I had a sailing trip booked for three weeks after I got back
from Santiago. I felt as fit as I had done for years. We picked the boat up from The Isle of Skye
and set off for St Kilda. We didn't get there, but had a week sailing out to the Outer Hebrides
and back. I came home exhausted, vowing never to sail again. I still like the look of that river
sail though.....

Kay, maybe we can catch up with you. I'm walking with a friend from work and I'm guessing
he'll be setting a good pace. So he may catch up with you. You'll easily recognise him as he looks
very much like I do. Except for the glasses. And the goatee. And the bow tie. And the Bonny
Prince Charlie jacket. And he's not overweight. Or ugly.... other than that... we could be brothers !!

@ Introibo. Maybe the bumping on the water heals your back. :D Once arriving in Pontecessures Santiago is only 27 kms away so eventually you could walk on hands and feet
Sailing is very nice , specially on a luxury 5 star cruise liner:p

Well seriously.. Wish you enjoy the Variante Espiritual as much as we did
Bom caminho

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 16-19
I left Porto on the 25th and it was cool and foggy, great walking weather. Yesterday leaving Viana do Costelo was the first really hot day. I overslept today and ended up walking in the noonday heat, but I stopped in Caminha for a beer :-) and am spending the night. Where are you?

We walked to Pontefract de Lima today. Much cooler than yesterday and nice walking. However, I can see a big blister forming under the ball of my left foot
Tomorrow is a shorter day, so let's wait and see what that brings.

Simon, I seem to have hijacked your thread. Apologies
