Saint-Sever to Bayonne: 5 Stages

1 Saint-Sever to Dax via Mugron: Voie Verte en Chalosse (50 km)

The Voie Verte is an old railway line converted into a hiking/cycling path. In ancient times pèlerin overnighted at the Hôpital St Jacques de Mugron. The site is now a Retirement Home, La Maison de Retrait. The Presbytere is opposite. (Cyclist's booklet available at the Office de Tourisme, Mont de Marsan €2)

Accommodation
*Mugron: Pèlerins sometimes sleep at La Maison de Retrait. Enquire at the Presbytere opposite.
*St-Paul-lès-Dax: Gite de Pèlerin
*Dax: L'Arrayade. 26, rue Diaspremont, Centre Pastoral Jean Paul II. €24.50
*St-Pancelon (3km after Dax on the Voie de Tours): Gite de pèlerin

Shortcut from Narrosse (Voie Verte en Chalosse) to L'Arrayade, Dax. The Centre Pastoral is directly on Le Voie de Tours:

Narrosse l'eglise: walk arround the l'eglise then turn left and walk to the round-a-bout. Ignoring the route to Dax, take the left hand road until you arrive at the Mairie/Ecole (about 1 Km, crossing a railway line and swinging right)
Narrosse Mairie/Ecole. Turn right and follow the Grand Route to Dax until you arrive at a large round-a-bout.
Round-a-bout, turn sharp left and follow the sign Dechetterie
Dechetterie . Go straight on past the rubbish tip until you are just before another railway stop.
DO NOT cross the railway track. Take the road, cars forbidden, leading off to the right just before the track. Cross over an ancient disused railway track then immediately turn left. Follow this road to a large round-a-bout
Round-a-bout: L'Arrayade, Centre Pastoral is directly opposite, on the corner.

2 Dax to Cagnotte: Le Chemin de St. Jacques, Voie de Tours (14 kms?)

Well signed. Easy to follow. (There is a Voie de Tours, Landes guide book tied to the info desk at L'Arryade)

Accommodation
*Gite de Pèlerin, Cagnotte. Ask at the L'epecerie. Donativo

3 Cagnotte to Peyrehorade D29 (7 kms)
Follow the main road (D29) from Cagnotte all the way to Peyrehorade. There is an alternate signed path. I'm not sure where the signs for this begin.

4 Peyrehorade to Urt: along the River L'Adour

Tourist Office Peyrehorade: Map available for Peyrehorade via Urt to Bayonne

Directions:
Peyrehorade to Hastingues: cross over the bridge. Turn right then follow the road to Hastingues. There isn't a walking track by the river.
Hastingues to Urt: as you enter Hastingues keep following the road directly beside the river, signed to Sames. Turn right before the next bridge and take the tarmac road which passes under the first arch. This road runs beside the river all the way to Bayonne.

Accommodation
*Camping d'Etche Zahar, Urt. Centre Ville, 5 minutes after the Carrefour supermarket. (€9 to sleep in a big tent, bed)
*a camping ground by the river
*B+B

5 Urt via Lahonce to Bayonne; GR 8 or by the River L'Adour (17 kms)

The church in Lahonce dates from 1121. The congregation is de Pays Basque.

Accommodation
*La Maison Diocessaine. 10 Avenue Jean Darrigund 64100. Bayonne.
*Other posibilities

Here are maps for the signed path from Cagnotte to Peyrehorade. In 2011 I followed the road.
