I have spent the night there (stayed at Les Coudercous) and confirm it's a charming little town. Plus, the climb out is quite steep!
I walked from there to Espalion.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Yes, I stayed there with husband in a double room in 2017. Really nice place, super lounge area, lovely hosts, good wholesome, filling, calorific food! Nice town too. And there is a pharmacy nearby which was useful for products to sooth feet.
We also stayed at St Come: the Couvent de Malet. Grand building, basic beef stew for dinner, all eat together and served self-service. it is also still a convent, in a different wing. This was a lovely experience, although my husband would have preferred a more gourmet dinner.
