Among the 250 entries, the Scientific Committee of the Philippe Rotthier European Prize has selected the 88 new urban neighborhoods that will participate in the final stage of the Prize on June 13, 2008 at the FOUNDATION FOR THE ARCHITECTURE in Bruxelles.
The 88 selected neighbourhoods come from 30 European countries and from big cities such as Lisbon, Bilbao, Paris, London, Glasgow, Brussels, Berlin, Dresden, Bologna, Palermo, Tirana, Istanbul, etc., as well as from beautiful medium-size cities such as Santiago de Compostela, Hammamet, Gladbeck, Alessandria, Hoje Tarstrup, Knokke, Dorchester, Brandevoort, etc. Among the 88 entries selected, these are the best New Urban Neighbourhood built in Europe in the last 25 years:
* Grand Prix Philippe Rotthier for The Best Operation of Urban Renaissance in a sub-urban city: Plessis-Robinson, France
* Prix Rotthier for The Best New City: Val d’Europe, Ile-de-France
* Prix Rotthier for The Best Reconstruction of an Historic Center: Historische Gesellschaft Dresden Neumarkt, Dresden, Germany
* Prix Rotthier for The Best Reconstruction of a City Center: Palermo, Italy
* Prix Rotthier for The Best New Village: Poundbury, Dorchester, UK
* Prix Rotthier for The Best Public Intervention: Rathaus Viertel, Gladbeck, Germany
* Prix Rotthier for The Best Neighbourhood Center: Borgo Città Nuova, Alessandria, Italy
* Prix Rotthier for The Best European Urban Plaza: Plaza del Juncal, Irun, Spain
