Huge numbers, but only a fraction walked any of the caminos leading to Santiago de Compostela.

"Spain last year surpassed the United States to become the world's second most visited country after France, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said during a visit to Italy.

Rajoy, speaking late Wednesday, said 82 million people visited in 2017, a nine percent increase over the previous year that came despite terror attacks and the political crisis in tourism magnet Catalonia."

We are lucky that just a small percentage walk the Camino!!!

Anyhow, the figure is awesome, almost 2 tourist per Spaniard!!

Concur, awesome figures, also the peregrinos are helping Spain's small towns economy and that is a good thing. To all caminantes, buena suerte, y que la luz de Dios alumbre su camino.
