Souvenirs and baggage

Time of past OR future Camino
Fall 2024
I'd like to buy some souvenirs at the end of my Camino in October - possibly enough to put in a checked bag for the flight home. I really don't want to carry an extra duffel for the entire 6 weeks - even if it's small and packable. Are there places to get duffel bags SUPER cheap? Or are they ever left in Santiago for others to use? I don't want to pay regular luggage prices, so I'm thinking more along the lines of second-hand or thrift shops. I don't know if anything like that is available in Spain like it is in the US.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
If you're coming in by the Frances/Primitivo/Norte, you'll pass a big china bazaar on the right, just a couple of hundred metres from the old town. There you will find a good assortment of cheap hold-alls, and cheap everything else. I think I've even seen it open of a Sunday.

We'll be on the Norte. So, this bazaar is near Santiago then?

There are several of these "bazar" or "china" shops in Santiago. I do a search in Google maps for "bazar"(only one "a" instead of two in Spanish) to find them.

Here's one called Super Bazar. These stores are easily recognizable from the outside.

And inside they are chock-full of all kinds of things, including different types of luggage as you can see in this picture.

Use Google Maps, or another similar app, to search for "China Bazar" near me, "Asia Bazar near me," "Oriental Bazar near me," "Super Bazar near me," or even "Bazar near me," etc.

If there is one or more of these shops in town, it will come up in your results. They all sell nearly the same things.

Hope this helps.

Yes, that's the one I had in mind. It's one of the biggest in Santiago, it's on the way in and it's just 15 minutes from the end of your journey. Don't expect top quality, but it'll surely last the length of a flight..
