Thanks for the offer but, as you know, it's almost impossible to fly direct to Santiago from Scotland or Northern England (which must be why I always have to walk across Spain to attend your recitals ...).Alan - get a flight to Santiago and let's have lunch. You know you want to
Any chance your travel insurance, if you have, or paid by credit card, can help? I was thinking about pilgrims as soon as I saw the notice. Yes a real bummerHad been due to fly to Gibraltar to start the vía Serrana next week, and wake this morning to find Monarch airlines has gone bust and all its flights have been cancelled. Luckily, I've managed to find a flight from Newcastle to Málaga, and will then have to take a bus to La Línea de la Concepción and its church of Santiago starting point of the Serrana camino. Which means I will arrive 24 hours later than planned, and about £100 poorer, so not a bad result after all - certainly better than the unfortunate airline staff who find themselves out of work due to management incompetence.
