Hola

The above French railways branch line is under threat of closure.

There is a campaign to keep it open.

I would like to think of my children being able to take the train instead of a bus clogging up the 'route nationales', a region which is gridlocked with traffic in the summer.

The word 'courriel' on the electronic petition is a fancy way of saying e mail address.

Perturbation du trafic Ter sur l'axe Bayonne - St Jean Pied

It looks like the last train ran on Friday 8 June.

The line has closed following a problem with overhead line equipment and rail traffic suspended.

SNCF (French Railways) continue to operate a service with substitute bus services.

Bonne Route!

Hmm, last year during the short train trip from Bayonne to SJPP the train operator went to us pilgrims handing out single sheet photocopies about some advocacy pertaining to the train line or the train company employees. We were sort of requested to sign on the line at the bottom but since I didn't understand the thing (I don't speak French), I didn't sign. The Italians across the aisle signed it even though I knew they didn't know what it was all about, because they attempted to ask me if I understood. Could that have anything to do with closing down the Bayonne-SJPP line?

Too bad, they should have handed out the manfesto in different languages.
