Sleeping bags

We are leaving le Puy early April heading for St Jean Pied de Port. Is it necessary or only "a good idea" to take sleeping bags?

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
In France, a silk sleep sack will be enough; blankets (and sometimes sheets also) were always available. Of course, if you "sleep cold" you may wish to take some lightweight silk long underwear as sleeping attire; or a very lightweight (40+) sleeping bag.

Either way, do try getting into and out of your sleeping equipment in a normal sleeping position before you leave. Some of the silk sacks may need a little geometry adjustment by way of opening the seams a few inches -- and that's easier done at home with adequate sewing equipment than in the dark on your first, exhausted night of walking (she says from painful personal experience).
